Banning Guns to Stop a Virus?

Mar 23, 2020 | Latest News

The Saluda County Council just declared a “State of Disaster” in response to the spread of COVID-19 and passed gun control in the process!

The declaration passed yesterday allows them to “suspend or limit the sale, dispensing, or transportation of…firearms, explosives, and combustibles (ammunition).”

What do gun sales have to do with stopping the spread of a virus?

Absolutely nothing!

As Obama’s former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel once said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

And tyrannical politicians around the country are taking that to heart right now.

Saluda County joins localities in Illinois and Louisiana that are banning gun sales, and you can bet they won’t be the only county in South Carolina to pull this stunt.

You may remember that Charleston and Columbia have already passed anti-gun ordinances in violation of state law, and this “crisis” may give them yet another excuse to infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens.

If we don’t remain vigilant, we could see these types of measures creep into more cities and counties all across South Carolina.

Banning the sale of firearms and ammunition isn’t the only threat we are facing either.

States like Washington, Michigan and even Georgia are suspending the issuance of concealed carry permits…denying citizens their right to carry a handgun.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of citizens across the country are trying to purchase their first-ever firearm for self-defense in these uncertain times.

Yet government bureaucrats are getting in the way by not issuing licenses.

As you and I know, a right delayed is a right denied…

…and a right that must be purchased is no right at all!

That’s why it’s long past time for South Carolina to pass Constitutional Carry, allowing law-abiding South Carolinians to be their own first line of defense.

The fact that we have to beg the government for a permit means that it can suspend that permit whenever it wants.

Without Constitutional Carry, your right to bear a firearm isn’t a right at all, but a privilege, handed out by the government.

It’s important to remember that any government privilege can be taken away.

What just happened in Saluda County is a blatant violation of your Second Amendment rights.

The Founding Fathers lived in a dangerous world. They knew that during times of war and sickness, it was critical that individuals had the ability to defend themselves.

Unfortunately, the government doesn’t see it that way. Already the crackdown is coming.

Thomas Jefferson famously stated: “eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

Those words couldn’t be truer today.

Palmetto Gun Rights is committed to continuing the fight for your gun rights during this time of crisis.

We will continue holding politicians and bureaucrats at every level of government accountable for infringing on any law-abiding citizen’s right to self-defense.

Your ability to defend yourself and your loved ones will never be more important than it is right now.

That’s why I hope you will support Palmetto Gun Rights with an emergency contribution of $120 or even $60.

If you can afford more, I humbly ask you to be as generous as you can.

Even a modest contribution of $30 or $10 will help us keep the lights on if this pandemic lasts for a prolonged period.

No matter what you do, please join me in prayer for our communities to get through this as quickly and as painlessly as possible.

God willing, we will all emerge from this stronger.

For Freedom,
